Tips & Tricks: New and Exciting Walls!

Rather than simple paint or wallpaper, ECD offers many different options to outfit your walls.

A beautiful, timeless option is venetian plaster walls. This technique leaves your walls with a smooth, 2-tone, multi-dimensional appearance much like that of marble or natural stone. This style, with its visual interest and charm, are perfect in any type of home, from casual to contemporary.

One of the simpliest and well known alternative to traditional walls is sponging. In this process, an uneven sponge is dipped into paint and dabbed on a surface to create an interesting pattern. It adds texture and depths to the walls, and is therefore a good option for walls that may have irregularities in it.

Another new, exciting option is a wood finish with paint. With a special technique, we can replicate the appearence of wooden walls with paint instead of using wooden veneers. This is both space-efficient and, in some cases, cheaper than using actual wood. Some rooms that will greatly benefit from this addition are libraries, family rooms, man caves, etc.

Colorwashing, which creates a unique water-color effect, is another fantastic idea that can be used in any style of room. It creates a warm, comfortable effect, and adds just the right pop of interest. This is a beautiful addition to any room.

Finally, be sure to think about striping your walls. This is an especially good technique for hallways, because it gives the appearance of a more spacious area. There are many different things you can do with striping, because you are not only limited to color stripes! You can use textures and patterns to add interest to your walls.
