Adding a Nautical Touch

To give your home a feeling of summer year round, consider adding nautical elements! This can be done easily and creatively without spending loads of money, and will provide you with a serene place to relax at your home.

Consider adding artwork that will bring about thoughts of the ocean, or use shells as accents to give an organic look to the room. Pillows, while being functional, can also allow a little more "art" into your room. Blue and white are naturally the most common colors for ocean themed rooms, but don't be afraid to add small splashes of color! This can be done with paintings or accessories. Remember not to allow too much clutter; the room should look full but still have an airy feel. Picking coastal motifs will give a subtle reference to the theme without being too "cliche"- for example, a sand dollar area rug.
